1st Athens Mayors Meeting

The 1st Athens Mayors Meeting marks the beginning of one of the most interesting efforts of the World of Athens to act as a catalyst in the production and exchange of ideas and viewpoints.

In cooperation with the City of Athens, the Athens Tourism and Economic Development Co. and the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the World of Athens is staging the 1st Athens Mayors Meeting, which will take place in Athens on 10-13 December 2009.

As part of the networking of cities named Athens, the World of Athens on Thursday 10 December will welcome mayors and representatives of cities named Athens.

The aim of this initiative is to launch a coordinated collaboration among cities named Athens so that one Athens comes closer to another, to exchange practices and policies, to learn about their histories and their course in history. In this way, the symbolism and the value of the name “Athens” will be transmitted throughout the world.
