Mission

The World of Athens is an international non-governmental network. We work worldwide to bridge ideas which could contribute to the creation of a better world. We believe in the dynamics of change inducing new ideas and concepts, which merit discussion, elaboration, and finally implementation in the communities where we participate.

The basic principle of the World of Athens is the precept of voluntary service to the community group. The World of Athens has as its founding principle the obligation to serve the city from which this organisation originated and in which it is based. Furthermore, this service must be extensive, manifold, voluntary, and altruistic [unselfish].

The purpose of the World of Athens is to reestablish Athens as a centre of new ideas and innovative initiatives that will be disseminated, discussed, and applied internationally. We want Athens to become a workshop of thought and a producer of ideas, not only in theory, but also in praxis.

Our ambition is to put forward ideas that will appeal to the citizens to use them and experiment with them. Our aspiration is that citizens will trust that with their thoughts, new initiatives and new developments they will be able to establish a better world, as self-reliant citizens, not merely looking to their history but from their contemporary contributions to the world community.
